Elgon International Health Institute was founded in 2012. This was after the survey carried out by Kateu Y Namoni to determine the medical courses that are not offered by any of the existing medical schools and those being offered in Eastern Uganda, further analysis was to assess the medical trained cadres who can provide the bulk of Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal care, prevent fistula problems from mother and can quickly carry out investigation and diagnosis, prevent common communicable diseases, and support in operation theatre during mother.
The survey revealed that, in Eastern Uganda, nursing schools are many than Allied health training schools. The nursing schools and the few government Allied Health training institutions are located in the following districts.

Goals: To produce Clinical Officers, Laboratory Technician, Anaesthetic officers, Pharmacists and Medical Theatre Assistants to promote health for all.
